Baxter Hartman Forney

Mr. Baxter Hartman Forney passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville, North Carolina.

Baxter was born March 12, 1955, to the late Leader Forney and Baxter H. Burton in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County Schools; he then went on to work various jobs – including the Town Hall of Cornelius and Wal-Mart in Mooresville, NC.

Baxter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and cousin to many who affectionately called him “Bac”. He enjoyed life to the fullest, loved being outdoors, and he never met a stranger – no matter where he went.

He is preceded in death by his father, Baxter H. Burton and mother, Leander Forney, two sisters, Berneita Forney and Sandra McClain; two brothers, James R. Burton and Alexander Forney and Sister-in-law, Angelita Jones.

Baxter leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Etta Forney of the home; two daughters, Chowan Reid and Marche Reid (A.J.) of Mooresville, North Carolina; one honorary son, Daryon Bowen of Mooresville, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Marion Allison of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandsons, Jaden, Amir, Devion and Marquis; two god children, Shomonique and Jermaine Palmer of Mount Mourne, North Carolina; two sisters, Arquilla Davidson of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Valerie Graham (Richard) of Cornelius, North Carolina; two brothers, Rickey Forney (Carolyn) of Mooresville, North Carolina and Elliot Forney (Linda) of Stony Point, North Carolina; sister-in laws, Dorothy Burton of Cornelius, North Carolina and Vernita Hall of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother-in-laws, Ben McLain of Denver, North Carolina and Robert Allison, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina and Jerry Jones of Mooresville, North Carolina, and one aunt, Carolina Forney. A host of nieces, nephews, Cousins and friends also survive.
