Bettie Jean Potts, affectionately known as Ma Bet, transitioned on to be another one of God’s beautiful and loving angels on September 25th, 2020. She was born on August 24th, 1939 to Wilson and Bobbie Potts in Cornelius, NC. She attended the local schools, Smithfield Rosenwald, Ada Jenkins, and Torrence Lytle High School.
After attending Torrence Lytle High School in 1959, she enrolled in Nivens Rehabilitation Center where she made numerous friends. She retired from Hardee’s after 10 years of service. There, she was known for her great biscuits.
Bettie was always a very sociable person. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and infectious laughter. She loved her word search puzzles, Western movies, Little House on the Prairie and The Golden Girls. We cannot forget her standard Blue nail polish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eldest sister, Eva Daphne (Daph) and a special nephew, Jeffery Moore. Bettie leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter Claudia Muldrow (Mark) and adopted daughter Tashauna Dukes, grandchildren Mark Jr, Patrick, and Ashley Muldrow and adopted grandchildren Destiny and Deitric Black. Brothers James Potts, Gerald Potts and Ronald Potts and a sister Cathy P Moore (Charles). Nieces, Harriett (Missy) Potts, Kimberly Forde (Jeff), Trina Gabriel, Regina Potts; nephews Jerry Potts (Tina), Gary Potts (June), Milton Potts (Michelle), Rodney Potts (Ruby); a host of great nieces, great nephews and special cousins: the Torrence’s, Burtons, Catheys and Pattersons.
