Mr. Bobby Knox, 86, loving son of the late Johnson Knox and Bertha Sanders, was born on May 5, 1935 in Iredell County, North Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
He received his education in the Iredell County Schools. At a young age, Bobby joined Bethesda AME Zion Church where he was a faithful member throughout the years. During his duration at Bethesda, Bobby served in several areas of ministry which consists of the trustee board and the usher ministry. Months before the decline of his health, Bobby was reverenced and appointed as the father of the church due to being the oldest male in the ministry. Bobby was an awesome provider for his family. He would do what was necessary to support them financially. He had many places of employment; however, he retired from The North Carolina Department of Transportation. Bobby was always on the go to support himself and his loved ones; therefore, after his retirement he became an employee of Wise Oil in China Grove, North Carolina. Bobby was a very well rounded individual. He was a faithful NASCAR fan; he loved working on cars; and he loved going to church. Bobby never met a stranger. He had an absolute love for people and people had a love for him. He was well known for his warm hugs and his special kisses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Bethel Knox Reid Ramsey, Annie Louise Knox, Frances E. Knox, and Christine Sanders Ship. He was also preceded in death by six brothers: John E. Knox (Bub), James P. Knox (Ted), Robert L. Knox, Clifton Knox, Tommie S. Sanders, and Roosevelt Sanders (Rodie); and a son-in-law: Willie Pollard Sr. Lastly, a daughter, Mary Tucker Hill, preceded him in his time of death.
He leaves to cherish memories of a life well spent, six children: Melton Johnson (Darlene), Linda Pollard, Shirley Tucker, Robert Cowan Sr., Bernard Tucker, Tonya Graham Wright; seven step-children: Calvin Smith (Charita), Inita Smith, Dollen Smith, Cheryl Smith, Renee Smith, Lisa Smith, and Donta Wilson (Omega);one son-in-law, Charles Hill; eighteen grandchildren: Carmen (Brian), Pervis (Patricia), Camille (Manuel), Antina Johnson, Shelley Pollard, Willie Jr., Tamica Tucker, Teachey Tucker, Aaliyah Tucker, Jasmine Tucker, Eronte Tucker, Robert Jr., Jaquecho Cowan, Zion Cowan, La’Kisha James (Derrick), La’Toya Jones (Carlton),Nehemiah Wright, and Keeke Tucker; fifteen step-grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family; a special nephew: Willie Eugene Knox (Shirley); and a very special friend: Sue Collier.
