Carrie Ann Barnes, aged 72, died peacefully on March 17, 2018 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. While we know that she is at peace and that her struggles are at an end, there is pain and sadness. She has left the legacy of her love and perseverance. Ann was born to the late Eldridge and Christine Patterson on January 26, 1946 in Iredell County, where she attended Dunbar School. Ann worked diligently and retired after 30 years from Lake Norman Regional Medical Center forming bonds with all she came in contact with being affectionately called “Annie” by all that knew and loved her. Ann was a devoted mother to her family and friends. Her passion for life formed bonds with the neighborhood children as well as adults around her son’s love of basketball. She loved to cook and entertain, and she loved a good card game as well as spending time with her best friends Sarah Adams, Geraldine Little and Jearl Cowan. She joined Watkins Chapel AME Zion church at an early age and became a lifelong member. There she worked diligently as a Missionary to serve the church and the community, spending countless hours volunteering at the soup kitchen. Even when she was unable to attend service physically, she still gave praises to God.
