Mr. Charles Arnold Connor, affectionately know to many as “Toby”, was called home to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at CMC-Atrium, Charlotte, North Carolina.
Toby was born to Joseph and Patricia Mercer on April 28, 1961, in Iredell County, North Carolina. He attended the Cabarrus School Schools where he played football and baseball. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboy, Tarheel and Nascar fan. Toby loved to fry fish with his nephew Cory.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Teretha Houston Connor, and paternal grandparents Lee and Martha Mercer, and his baby sister, Regina Mercer.
Toby leaves to cherish his memories, his parents Joseph Mercer of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Patricia D. Mercer of Harrisburg, North Carolina; sister, Sharon Shinn (Timothy) of Concord, North Carolina; son, Tyrell Mayhew of Mooresville, North Carolina; daughter, Breanne Connor of the home; two nephews, Corey Mercer (Casey) of Harrisburg, North Carolina – who was more like a brother, and Timothy Shinn, Jr. of Concord, North Carolina; one great nephew, Atavion Fowler of Harrisburg, North Carolina; one step son, Jame Ford of the home and one grandson, Izaiah James Raymer; a very special uncle, Ronnie Connor of Kannapolis, North Carolina; aunts, Rosa Dargins of Charlotte, North Carolina, Norva Howie of Macon, Georgia, and Lela Johnson of Davidson, North Carolina; two special friends, Harley Glaze of the home and Robin Thrasher of Davidson, North Carolina.
