Charles Robert Pinkston was born April 6, 1934 in Rowan County. He departed from this life on Friday, October 18, 2019, at his home in Kannapolis. He was the son of the late Robert Pinkston of Mooresville and Hazelene Cornelius Brawley of Salisbury.Mr. Pinkston was educated in the public schools of Rowan County where he attended Aggrey School. He served 2 years in the US Army as well. He worked at Cannon Mills for an extended period of time before working at K&W Cafeteria until retirement.He was a lifetime member of Sills Creek A.M.E. Zion Church, Mooresville. He served on the Usher board, Trustee Board, Lay Council, Men Ministry, and Kitchen Committee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ruby Sheelor Pinkston, and his brothers, James Edward Brawley and Ray Junior Brawley. He leaves precious and loving memories to: his daughter, Cynthia (Darlene) Alexander of China Grove and his son, Robert (Jeff) Pinkston (Shelia) of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Osborne (Scooter) Alexander, Shonte’ Grigley, Lamonte Alexander (Lisa), and Dante’ Pinkston ; four great-grandchildren, Trenten Grigley, Katie Reynolds, LaShaun Alexander, and Makaila Pinkston; sisters, Phyllis Phifer of Mooresvile, Shirley Lipton of Salisbury, Sylinder Brawley of Salisbury, Wanda Brawley of Salisbury, and Brenda Sherrill (Clement) of China Grove; brothers, Curlee Brawley (Jennie) of Salisbury and Cleo Brawley (Pearl) of Mooresville; sister-n-law, Mary Helen Brawley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
