Clara Etta (Nivens) Blackmon
Obituary
Clara Etta Nivens Blackmon was born March 18, 1931 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina to the late Harley Nivens and Bertha Bittle. Clara was joined in Holy Matrimony to Rufus Blackmon Sr. on December 25,1952. She was called home to glory on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
She received her education from Marvin High School in Marvin, NC where she graduated. She served as a Dietary Aid at the VA Hospital for many years in West Haven, Connecticut. Also later in her life Clara was a Day Care owner where she cared for many children.
Clara was a member of St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church in Huntersville, NC for 38 years where she served as the Treasure and Sunday School Secretary.
In addition to her parents Clara is preceded in death by a daughter, Annie Evangeline Houston.
To cherish her memories, Clara leaves her loving husband Rufus Blackmon Sr.; daughter, Rachel Blackmon; and son Rufus Blackmon Jr. She also leaves a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
