Colette Ardean (Stinson) Bailey

Colette Ardean Stinson Bailey was born August 29, 1964 in Iredell County; and peacefully departed this life on May 21, 2023 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents Curlee and Virginia Watts Stinson.

    Colette was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School, Class of 1982. She receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Barber Scotia College where she graduated with the Class of 1986. In her junior year she was initiated  into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Upon graduation from college, she became employed by Bethlehem Center Head Start. She served as a case manager for over 30 years.

    Colette was a lifetime member of Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church. She was a member of the Stroller Singers and the Education Committee.

    On September 25, 2004 Colette married the love of her life Phillip Walter Bailey.

    She is survived by her husband, Phillip W. Bailey of the home; bonus children Kenya Davis (Troy) of Mobile, AL, Brandon Bailey (Chiante) of Key West, FL; sisters Treva D. Watts of Cornelius, NC, and DeVondia Y. Stinson of Cornelius, NC; brothers in law, Eugene Johnson (Carmen) of Charlotte, NC, and Joe Bailey (Patsy) of Charlotte, NC; sisters in law, Joyce Moungle (Louis) of Haywood, CA, Connie Bailey of Florence, SC, Patricia MCleod  (David)  of Charlotte, NC, and Shirley Pharr (Ronald) of Charlotte, NC; one aunt, Addie Brownlee of Long Island, NY; one special niece, Amber M. Stinson of Mooresville, NC; two great nephews, Cadence and DaCian Stinson of Mooresville, NC, a god aunt Joan Johnson “Tootsie” of Cornelius, NC; god brother, Dwight Hope (Sharon) of Charlotte, NC.
