D'Asya Cooper Obituary

The sun rose and the world welcomed D’Asya Roshae Houston Cooper June 19, 1991 a day the world became a little brighter in Iredell County to Rechelle Hall and Thaddeus Houston. She transitioned peacefully with her family by her side on May 26, 2022 in Chapel Hill, N.C. D’Asya lived a full and warm life, filled with joy. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her Maternal Grand Father, Richard M. Hall, and Paternal Grand Mother Willie Ann Houston.

Growing up as a little girl she was also a faithful dedicated member of Campbell Missionary Baptist Church, here in Mooresville NC.

D’Asya (known by many as Dee Dee) was a 2009 Graduate of Mooresville, Senior High School where she was a member of HOSA and was a four-year member of the Mooresville Blue Diamond/Color guard Dance Team. After graduation D’Asya attended Fayetteville State University, majoring in Nursing where she was a member of the Bronco Stutters Dance Team. After completing her first year she transferred to UNC Greensboro and received her degree in Healthcare Administration. Four years later she received her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Kaplan University.

After graduating from UNC Greensboro D’Asya married Donald Cooper (former spouse) and started a life in Fairbanks, Alaska thru this union two children were born Major Josiah-Lee Cooper, and Mason Jeremiah-Lee Cooper. While in Alaska she became a Sister of the Eastern Star on the 11th day of October 2014 Borealis Chapter #2 of Fairbanks, Alaska.

After 5 years of living in Fairbanks, Alaska they were stationed in Fayetteville, NC where they drove cross country with a two-year-old and 6-month-old baby in tow! Once getting settled in Fayetteville, D’Asya started her career in the medical field with Pivot Physical Therapy and later Medical Support Assistant for labor and delivery at Womack Hospital.

Once returning to Mooresville, she was the Office Manager at Iredell Family Medicine. She became a member of The Cove Church and was Baptized in 2020 . There she volunteered with Kids Cove and Guest Services.

 She leaves to cherish her memories of her Mother Rechelle Hall, and her Father, Thaddeus Houston. Her two sons, Major Josiah-Lee Cooper, and Mason Jeremiah -Lee Cooper Three sisters, Kaila and Taylor Ward of the home and Whitney Houston of Charlotte. Grandmother, Gretchen Campbell Hall of Mooresville, NC, and Grandfather Tony Lazenby (Tarnell) of Stoney Point, NC. God Father Kevin McKee (Sue) of Mooresville, NC, and God Mother Stephanie Young of Mooresville, NC. Three aunts, Christina Hall, of Charlotte, NC, Toni Lazenby of Houston, TX, and Tara Lazenby of Charlotte, NC; two uncles Richard Dewayne Hall (Chaka Breland) of Mooresville, NC, and Colby Hall (Kara) of Mooresville, NC, and a special uncle Patrick Coker of Reidsville, NC; eight first cousins, Deyonna Hall, Ryleigh Hall and Anari Myricks, of Charlotte, NC, Cazmaine Stintson, RJ Breland, Chance Breland, Destiny Breland all of Mooresville, and Colby Hall Jr. of Mooresville, NC; one Nephew Nyzir Germaine Washington of Charlotte, One God Son Isiah Houston, and one God daughter Ragian Winford both of Mooresville, NC. She also leaves to cherish memories, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and close friends.
