David Eugene Houston was preceded in death by his sister, Queen; his father Zebedee; his mother, Beatrice, and brothers, Jesse and Michael, respectively.
David Houston was born October 11,1954 in Iredell County. He fell asleep in death on Monday, April 22 2024 at Novant - Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
David was educated at Amity Elementary and South Iredell High School in Barium Springs, NC.
David’s passion was cooking and home decoration. And boy could he cook! David also loved fishing with his dear friend Reggie.
David was multi-talented. He loved drawing and was very good at it. He also had a beautiful voice for singing. Additionally, he loved working with restoring and selling furniture. David was also employed by Acutant Corporation which transferred him to Wisconsin for three years.
David has five children, four sons and one daughter— David II aka “D-Squared,” Jon Michael V., Alex, Alvi Whitney, and Trayvis. He also has five grandchildren.
David lost his ability to walk after multiple back surgeries. He was blessed to have had consistent support from his siblings and close relatives, specifically his cousin “Taffy” Sloan and his nephew Jason Houston. During the time he was sick,
David said to Claudette, his older sister, “One of things that I regret and would change if I could go back in time, is not to hold grudges because all it did was destroy my heart.”
David leaves behind his children: David E. Houston II (Alisha); Jon Michael V. Houston; Alex Houston; Master Sergeant Alvi Whitney Houston, and Trayvis Houston. He leaves five grandchildren: David E. Houston III, Jon-Michael II and Solomon; granddaughters Raivyn and Charae. Siblings: Claudette Lowry (Sam); Larry (Martha), Stanley “Zee”; Laurie Calkins (Christopher); and nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
