Edith Nadine Patterson Stinson was born in July 20, 1933 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late Lawrence & Sadie Patterson. Also preceded her in death was sisters, Trilby Patterson, Yvonne Patterson, Virginia Price, and Joyce Johnson.
Edith attended Torrence Lytle High School. After high school she went to New York and underwent training in the nursing field. Shorty after nursing training she moved back to North Carolina to help her parents. She also met the LOVE of her life, Mr. Rostus Stinson. Although they had no children, they were able to help raise her disabled baby sisters two children, Mia & Brian of which she loved dearly.
Edith along with her parents in early years attended Torrence Chapel, but moved membership to Union Bethel AME Zion Church after she married her Husband. She was very active in her church serving as head of the Deaconess Board, President of the Usher Board, Superintendent of Sunday School & sang on several Choirs. She loved her Church Family. Ms. Stinson was a Jewel to her family and friends, was always kind, pleasant, and soft spoken. She will be truly missed.
She leaves to cherish fond memories; Her Niece (Daughter) Mia T. Patterson-Archie (MarDarius) of Cornelius NC, and her Nephew (Son) Brian Patterson of Cornelius NC; five Grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as Granny, Tamya, TJ, Brianna, Desiree, Katona; sister, Doris Cloud of NY, and brothers, Spencer Patterson (Brenda) of Mooresville, Raymond Patterson of Charlotte, Bernard Patterson of Spartanburg, SC, and Senix Patterson of Troutman, NC; also a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, cousins and friends.
