Edward E. Brewer Sr. transitioned from this life on Monday, January 6, 2020. He was born on October 1, 1935 to the late Virgie Foote Brewer and Clement A. Brewer Sr. in Landis, NC. He received his education in the Rowan County School System. After graduating high school, Mr. Brewer enlisted in the Navy, where he served four years and was able to travel extensively. Upon returning home from the Navy, he furthered his education at Carver College and Johnson C. Smith University. After college, he obtained employment at Mercy Hospital for a brief period before becoming employed by Duke Energy, where he worked for 28 years until he retired.
Mr. Brewer was the middle child of the 5 children of Virgie and Clement Brewer. He was preceded in death by sisters Carolyn Scales and Hazelene Johnson. He is survived by one brother, Clement A. Brewer Jr. (Polly), and one sister, Adelaide Carter.
A few of Mr. Brewer's pastimes included telling stories about how smart he was, eating sweets, and sitting outside with the sun and squirrels keeping him company. He enjoyed working in the yard and often had to be told to come inside to prepare for the evening.
He leaves to cherish memories of his life with his wife of fifty-six years Martha Y. Brewer, three children, Karen Brewer-Banner, Edward Eugene Brewer Jr., and Marshall Parsons, and seven grandchildren; Janelle, Jared and Joshua Brewer and Brichet, Chase, Rhayne Banner and Camille Banner along with many family and friends.
He will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched.
