Sister Effie Mae Hill was born December 2, 1940, in Iredell County, North Carolina, to the late John Lee and Margaret Caldwell Shipp. Effie departed this earthly life for her heavenly home, Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at the Genesis Health Care Center, where she was in residence for about eight years. We lost a loving and devoted family member, but Heaven gained another Angel. Effie was preceded in death by her parents, John Lee and Margaret Caldwell Shipp, and two sons, Paul Edward Hill and Willie Hill. Effie attended the Iredell County Schools, and was employed as a Spinner for many years in the Textile Industry. She was a faithful member of Morrows Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was once president of the United Methodist Women, also Queen of Morrows Chapel She was an Usher, on the Hospitality Committee, Chair-person of Outreach, and let us not forget her lustrous voice on the Choir where “On My Way Home” was her favorite song – and no one sang this song like Effie did. Effie leaves to cherish beautiful memories of her life, three children, Charles Hill (Mary) of Mooresville, North Carolina, Margaret Adams of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Raymond Bost (Leona) of Charlotte, North Carolina. Loving grandchildren, LaKisha James (Derrick), La’Toya Jones (Carl), Monicka Adams, ShanQuena Bost, Willie Peet, Whitney Hill, Tiffany Bost, LaToya Phifer (Jarrod) and Martavion Moore. Two special aunts, Mary Carr and Lois Allison, and special cousin Geraldine Cowan of Mooresville, North Carolina. A host of other relatives and friends also survive.
