Elton Jetton Obituary

Born on March 27, 1958, in Mooresville, North Carolina, Elton was the beloved son of the late Clyde C. Jetton Jr. and Eunice Amelia Mills Jetton. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde C. Jetton Sr. and Lutell Campbell Jetton, R.D. Mills and Estell Rankins Mills; a granddaughter, Indya Torrence; and a step brother Calvin Patterson.

Elton was a proud graduate of Mooresville High School, Class of 1976. In October of 1978, he honorably enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country with distinction both in the United States and abroad, including assignments in Europe and Korea. Throughout his military career, Elton held several vital roles, including Unit Supply Specialist, Material Storage and Handling Specialist, and Equipment Records and Parts Specialist. His service was marked by numerous achievements and commendations, including Army Service Ribbons, two Overseas Service Ribbons, an Expert qualification with the M-16 rifle, and a Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon. The good Conduct Medal recognizing six years of exemplary service.

Beyond his service, Elton was known for his vibrant personality and generous spirit. He was truly the life of the party—charismatic, charming, and always willing to help anyone in need. Elton never knew how to say no and was happiest when giving of himself to others. He took great pride in his appearance, always impeccably dressed, fit, and confident, with a smile that could be seen a mile away. He had a deep love for sporty cars and spent countless hours keeping them spotless and shining. Many summer afternoons found him in the backyard, joyfully playing basketball with neighbors and friends. While in Korea he received a black belt in Taekwondo.

Elton leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, **Ebony Knox of Kannapolis,**grandson, **Jonathan Knox of Greensboro **and his great granddaughter, Alayah Henderson. He is also survived by his brothers, Austin Jetton of New York, Lamott Jetton of Virginia; his sisters, Laverne Wilkes and Laraine Baker, both of Mooresville, and a special sister/cousin, Merryline Wilson of Greensboro. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, Mekia, Tasha, Tonya; his nephews, Mareekce (Tiffany), Kyron; and a host of cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.

Elton will be remembered for his service, his style, his laughter, and above all, his generous heart. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched with kindness, warmth, and unwavering generosity.
