Mother Emma L. Ruff Nash was born on May 1, 1931, in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Tom Torrence and Mattie Rivens Torrence. She departed this life on December 21, 2022, in her home in the city of Gastonia, N.C.
Mother Emma L. Ruff Nash was a faithful member of New Holy Temple Church of Gastonia, N.C. She was one of the mother’s of the Church. Mother Emma L. Ruff Nash was employed at A&E Mills in Mt. Holly N.C. She later retired from Allen’s Rest Home of Gastonia, N.C. Mother Emma L. Ruff Nash was an evangelist of the gospel for numerous years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Reverend David Reid Nash Sr., Brothers James Torrence, Robert Torrence. Sisters, Mary Graham, Dorothy Reid, Ossie Nichols. Three brother-n-laws Tom Reid, David Reid, Robert Nichols, and one Grandson, Kegain Davis.
She leaves behind Nine children, Six daughters: Peggy Ruff McCullough, Patricia Ann Smith (Jimmy), Jackie Ruff Tate, Barbara Ann Ruff, Van Eva (Vanessa) Burton, Brenda Nash Ceballos. Three Sons: Clayvon Ruff, David Junior Nash (Carlotta), Alfred Lee Nash (Renee). Twenty-four Grandchildren, Twenty-seven Great Grandchildren, and Two Great, Great Grandchildren. She was loved so much by her nieces and nephews, that they called her grandma. She leaves behind three sisters, Ethel Reid, Ella Bryant (Harvey), Eliza Gibson. Sister-in-law Hazel Brawley, Brother-in-law Jimmy Nash. Two God daughters Hope Williams and Cassandra “San” McCorkle. One God son Aric Torrence and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
