Ernestine Hagen, born on March 24, 1936, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Margaret Lytle and John Foster, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love and community service. For 32 years, Tuckahoe, New York, was home to Ernestine, where she became a beloved figure, nurturing many children and serving her church community with devotion. As a missionary, usher, and esteemed mother of the church in both New York and North Carolina, her impact was profound and far-reaching.
Ernestine's journey on earth came to a close, reuniting her in spirit with her beloved husband, Elvin Hagen; her parents, Margaret Lytle and John Foster; her son, Dares Hagen; and her daughters, Margaret Hagen and Joeann Bullard. Her memory and spirit will forever be cherished by her loving family: sons Alfred and Calvin Hagen; daughters Maryanne Sherill, Annette Evans, and Angela Clark; along with her nine grandchildren, Nina, Laura, Sidney, Alfred Jr., Terrell, Marquette, Nana, McKayla, and Nasya; and eight great-grandchildren, Brianna, Deitrick, Savion, Evans, and Jasmine. Ernestine's sisters, Pastor Anne Tate and Virginia Hall, also survive her, carrying forward the light of her legacy.
Ernestine Hagen's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and community. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her and were touched by her kindness, dedication, and grace.
