Mr. Ferman Hill, Jr. of Davidson, NC, was born April 10, 1936, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, to the late Furman Hill, Sr. and Margaret Eugene Caldwell Hill.
He attended the Mecklenburg County Schools, and graduated from Torrence Lytle High School. Ferman joined the United States Army in 1954 and received the National Defense Service Medal and Parachutist Badge and was Honorably Discharged in 1957.
Ferman met his wife Mary Frances Sherrill in 1958 and to this union four children were born, Ferman L. Hill 3rd, David W. Hill, Scott B. Hill and Michael D. Hill.
Ferman’s sons, David and Michael preceded him in death. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Davidson, North Carolina.
He joined the New York City Police Department in 1960 and was an Officer and retired in 1960, after 30 years of dedicated service. Ferman also served in the Army National Guard for 20 years.
Ferman leaves to cherish his life and memories, a loving wife Mary Frances Sherrill Hill; two son’s Ferman L. Hill, 3rd of Mt. Vernon, New York, and Scott B. Hill and wife Jo’z B. Hill of Davidson, North Carolina. A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren residing in New York and Georgia also survive.
