Mr. Ferman Eugene Smith, the son of the late Mr. Hubbard and Allie Mae Smith was born in Mecklenburg County, North County on February 12, 1933.
Mr. Smith joined Gethsemane Baptist Church in Davidson, NC at an early age. Ferman Smith was a graduate of Torrence Lytle High School. He married Barbara Kerns on March 3, 1957 and to this union four children were born. He was a retiree of Reeves Brothers/Foamex.
Later he joined Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 2014 where he served as a Deacon. He was emeritus due to his illness. He was also a member of the masons and the Men of Unity.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Barbara Kerns Smith of the home; three sons: Aaron Smith of Huntersville, NC, Dale Smith (Nikki) of Charlotte, NC, and Gerald Smith of Huntersville; one daughter, Sharon Smith of Huntersville, NC; one brother, Henry Smith of Charlotte, NC; five sister-in-law Maggie Smith of Davidson; Sadie Caldwell of Huntersville, NC; Hazel Smith, Pearl Knox, Carolyn McCoy (Ernest) of Charlotte; three brothers-in-law William Lytle of Charlotte, Brenizer Lytle, Jr. of Mooresville and Godfrey Potts of Huntersville, four grandchild and two great grandchildren.
