George Henry Moore, Sr. was a great family man. He loved and cherished his loving wife, Rose, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the second of nine children born to the late Herman Carson Moore and Arlena Hunter Moore. He was also a stepson of the late Juanita Vanderburg Moore. Born on January 5, 1941, George departed this life and joined our Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord. NC. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Moore and Chrisgen Moore, two sisters, Mary Little and Majorie Torrence, two step-sisters, Linda Johnson and Althea Stuckey, and his son-in Law, Karl Hollingsworth.
George attended Torrence-Lytle High School. He was a truck driver for Pilot Freight Carriers and a member of Teamsters Local 71 in Charlotte, NC for almost three decades. He retired from his business The Yardman's Yard Service after two successful decades. He was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Davidson, NC for 35 years. George enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar, spending time with family, watching cowboy movies, speaking his mind, and reading the word of God.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose Edna Osborne Moore of Huntersville, NC, six children; George Henry Moore, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, Aaron Bradley Charles Moore (Lisa) of Puyallup, Washington, Karen Denise Hollingsworth (late Karl) of Durham, NC, Edna Arlena Thompson (Scottie) of Greensboro, NC, Maebell Rose Moore of Huntersville, NC, Herman Ralph Moore (Nicole) of Mooresville, NC, 20 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother, Pastor Ralph Moore (Lucille) of Wilmington, NC; five sisters, Virginia Whitley (Gene) of Huntersville, NC, Rosa Corneilus of Charlotte, NC, Cynthia Gibson (late Paul) of Huntersville, NC, Brenda Vanderburg and Sylvia Tucker of Rahway, NJ, five brothers-in-law; Ralph Little (late Mary) of Wadesboro, NC, Robert Johnson (late Linda) of Huntersville, NC, Richard Osborne (Phyllis) of Stanley, NC, Edward Osborne (Loretta) of Charlotte, NC, and John Lee Osborne (Linda) of Dallas, TX; four sisters-in-law Cornelia Moore (late Charles) of Huntersville, NC, Barbara Moore (late Chrisgen) of Mt. Gilead, NC, Corine Alexander (Vince), and Joyce Smith (Verner) of Charlotte, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
