Helen Ruth Nixon was born in Lincoln County on February 11, 1935 to the late Eugene and Hattie Shipp Nixon. She was one of eight children, who all preceded her in death.
Helen was a graduate of Dunbar High School, a lifelong member of Watkins Chapel AME Zion Church, and a faithful member of Steve Wilson and The Love Centered Choir. Before retiring, she worked in textiles and with the Iredell Council on Aging.
Helen leaves to cherish fond memories of her life to two daughters, Bonita Clark (Russell) and Adrienne Nixon Basco (Richard); four grandchildren, Melody Clark, Stephanie Clark, Tristan Clark, and Heaven Clark; five great-grandchildren, Jalen Clark, Jaden Horton, Ajayiah Horton, Justin Horton, and Lawson Clark; two great-great-grandchildren, Kharter Torrence and Saige Clark; eight nieces, Shelia Farmer, Elaine Thorpe, Cynthia Nixon, Janet Phifer (James), Vivian Brandon, Glenda Walker (Cal), Darlene Johnson (Melton), and Martha Ramsey; six nephews, Bennett Phifer (Cordelia), Reginald Nixon, William Hunter, Roscoe Ramsey Jr. (Pat), James Ramsey (Gwen), and David Ramsey; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; longtime family friends, John Wilson, Marlene Ross, and Ms. Ora Carr; and her extended family, Steve Wilson and the Love Centered Choir.
