Helen Cornelius Stewart was born on July 31, 1930 to the late Walter Cornelius Sr. and Nina Bell Philhouse. She departed this earthly life on December 12, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Stewart Sr., her son Leonard Stewart Jr., and her grandson, Sheldon L. Stewart. She attended school in Mooresville, North Carolina. She worked at Burlington Mills for 15 years, Morrows Chapel United Methodist Church for 20 years, and the Division of Services for the Blind. Upon her retirement she did residential cleaning until her husbands health failed. She was a long time member of Morrows Chapel United Methodist Church. She served as an Usher, United Methodist Women, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Hospitality Committee. She loved the Lord and her church.Mrs. Stewart loved to cook and take care of her family. She had a quiet gentle spirit and always had an encouraging word for people. She will be greatly missed.She leaves behind her surviving children and family to cherish her life Howard Stewart (Laura) Mooresville, Steve Stewart (Barbara) Mooresville, Michael Stewart of the home, Garry Stewart (Jean) Mooresville, Derrick Stewart (Tiffany) Midland, and Angela Stewart Troutman and a host of grandchildren, great grands, nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
