Mr. Henry Thomas “Whimp” Westmoreland ,64, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully in his residence on Monday, April 23, 2018. He was born in Concord, NC on February 18, 1954 and was the son of the late Clement T. Asbury and Elizabeth J. Westmoreland. He was married to Teresa W. Westmoreland, who survives. Henry was preceded in death by his father, Clement Thomas Asbury, mother, Elizabeth J. Westmoreland, step-father Paul E. Westmoreland, two brothers, Calvin Asbury and Thomas E. Asbury, paternal-grandparents, Henry and Thelma Asbury and material-grandparents, Joseph and Lucille Black. Henry started his early education in the Cabarrus County School Systems until he moved to Mooresville, NC with his mother and step-father, where he continued his education in the Mooresville Grade School System He graduated from Mooresville Senior High in 1972 and married Teresa W. Westmoreland, his high school sweetheart in 1978. He began working for Duke Power until 1995 and later went on to be a custodian for Mecklenburg County for one year and then later transferred to Iredell- Statesville School System where he served for 20 years until his health declined. He was a direct individual who loved to encourage and mentor the young children at his school and was passionate about getting the children back on the straight and narrow path. He was an active and dedicated member of the Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.
