Herman Bernard (Jike) Davis

Mr. Herman Bernard Davis, affectionately known as “Jike” son of the late James Thomas “Buck” Sherrill and Doris Davis, was born March 30, 1954, in Iredell County, North Carolina. He entered into eternal rest  on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville, North Carolina. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother Lillie Mae Torrence who raised him after the death of his mother- sister, Shawnee Sherrill and granddaughter Stephanie Patrick.

Mr. Davis was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School – Class of 1972. 

Herman was presently employed with Estes Trucking Company as a driver for 26 years. He was a member of Torrence Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church, where he served on the Steward’s Board for many years.

Herman was joined in Holy Matrimony to the former Mildred McCain – and they have been married for over 42 years.

He leaves to cherish memories his loving wife Mildred McCain Davis of the home; daughters, Kyesha McCain of Mooresville, North Carolina and Ronda McCain of Charlotte, North Carolina, sons, Owen Reid of Davidson, North Carolina and Rakeem Torrence of the home; sisters, Rose Marie Davis of Mooresville, North Carolina and Barbara Bailey of Texas; brothers, Oscar “Junior” Davis of Greensboro, North Carolina, David Sherrill of Kansas City, Missouri, Sean Sherrill of Memphis, Tennessee, James “Waddell” Rivens of Lancaster, Texas, Leander Brown of South Bend, Indiana, Stanley Donaldson (Donna) of Chula Vista, California and Joseph Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Grandchildren, Justice, Olivia, LaBaron, Kenyatta, Brenton, Brittany, Courtney, DeMario, Yolanda and Isabella and 16 great grands. Special nieces, Quinitta and Quinetta Davis and Iesha and Tyesha Cornelius. #1 Man – Tollis Johnson (Brenda) and special cousin, Joanne “Jojo” Sherrill. Many uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
