Mrs. Hollis Cornelius Lewis,
Hollis Travis Cornelius Lewis was born on April 29, 1944 to the late DeAndrew and Edna Sloan Cornelius. The angel of peace touched her eyelids and she quietly fell into eternal rest on December 23, 2018 surrounded by loved ones at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center. Hollis was a devoted wife, loving mother, giving sister, nurturing aunt, caring cousin, faithful friend and consoling confidant. She was the family Matriarch. She loved her family and was a true caregiver in every sense of the word. Hollis was the family doctor, chef, tax preparer, seamstress, problem solver and peacemaker. Cooking was one of her passions. She was an excellent cook and was known for her “never-ending pots” that faithfully fed everyone. She opened her heart and home for decades for family gatherings. Her warm, loving, caring spirit radiated in her smile and her helpful spirit impacted everyone she met. Hollis was a caregiver and made everyone feel loved. She knew just when to check on you. Those random phone calls or popup visits always came at the right moment, and afterward you just knew it was going to be alright.
