Mr. Isaac Brevard Thompson, the son of the late Yancy Thompson as born in Forsyth County on October 26, 1927. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen McClain Thompson and their son Wayne Bernard Thompson. He accepted the invitation from God to return to his heavenly home on Friday, October 4, 2019. Isaac was educated at Torrence-Lytle High School in Huntersville, NC where he was later elected President of the Alumni Association. “I.B.” as he was known to all who know him joined Huntersville United Presbyterian Church, which is now New Friendship Presbyterian Church, at an early age. Prior to his illness, he was very active and diligent in his services as he cutting the grass, plastering the sanctuary, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, being a member of the Men’s Council, a Deacon, an Elder, and A Sunday School Superintendent. I.B. was very active in the Huntersville Community and was the 1st Black person to service as a Town Commissioner. He worked on the renovation of the old Rosenwald School and was a member of the Grier Heights Lodge #752. He leaves to cherish his sons: Vernon Thompson (Berline) of Fayetteville and Gregory Thompson of Charlotte; one sister, Morrise Crawford of Hackensack , NJ, six grandchildren: Rhonda Thomas of Charlotte, NC: Camille Thompson of Concord, NC: Gregory Tobias Thompson, TaJuan Belton of Charlotte: Tomeka Boothe (Dwayne) of Atlanta, GA; and Kendall Thompson of Charlotte; 8 great-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
