James “Jimmy” Huntley, son of the late Carrie Huntley and Uzziah Alexander, was born January 12, 1941, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
Jimmy was a graduate of Torrence-Lytle High School. After high school, he was employed with several companies and was later employed at Duke Power from 1973 until his retirement in 1997. After retirement, Jimmy took on other hobbies, such as selling clothes and jewelry, videoing “Mr. Video”, and taking care of his yard.
Jimmy was a faithful, working member of Catawba Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, and continued to be active until his health declined. Jimmy, aka “Hot Rod” loved sports. He played with the Davidson Outlaws, was an avid lover of NASCAR Racing, cheering on #3 Dale Earnhardt, and he was a die-hard Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts fan.
Jimmy was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. He leaves to cherish 56 years of loving memories to his wife, Laura Kerns Huntley of the home; sons Kennedy Huntley of Charlotte,NC Vincent Huntley of Salisbury, NC; Godson: Nathan Kerns, Statesville, NC; Daughter, Charlene Izzard (Talvin), Cornelius, NC. Goddaughter: Roshanda Huntley, Lincolnton, NC. 6 grandchildren, Devin Mackey, Jamario, Ryan, Justin Izzard, Laurynne Chadwell, and Ashlea Izzard. 1 God-grandson Saraii Sherrill, 4 great-grandchildren, Kayden, Harley, Kaliyah and Jordan Izzard.
Three aunts, Rev. Ardelia Wilson, Baltimore, MD, Mae Frances Kerns, Cornelius,NC and Mildred Huntley, Charlotte, NC. Two sister-in-laws: Dorothy Burton, Davidson and Rose Kerns, Charlotte, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
