James Samuel Jones Sr.

James Samuel Jones Sr. (Hey Now) at the age of 67, transitioned from this life to eternal life on October 15, 2022 at the Main Campus for Atrium Health Hospital. He was born June 17, 1955 in Gaston County to the late PJ and Elizabeth “Sally” Jones.

He attended Catawba County Schools and graduated from Bandy's High School with the class of 1974 where he played varsity football which was one of his many favorite things to do. He was a true fan for the Oakland Raiders, but he still pulled for the Carolina Panthers as well. He also truly enjoyed working on cars. He was known as the neighborhood mechanic and a jack of all trades.

He struggled through the last couple of years with health issues, but he was always able to still carry a smile and tell a joke or two with whomever he came in contact with.

Sammy, as he was also known; in addition to his parents was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Jones, and James David Jones (JD).

He leaves to cherish memories of his life; a loving friend, Tina Caldwell, and their children, James S. Jones Jr. of Huntersville, NC, Brandon E. Jones of Huntersville, NC, Justin O. Jones (Nidia) of Mooresville, NC, and a bonus daughter, Yolanda C. Williamson of Charlotte, NC;  one bonus grandson, Thomas Williamson Jr.; three granddaughters, Kyla Waters, Amaya Jones, and Sara Jones all of Mooresville, NC; one sister, Ida Blakeney (David) of Charlotte, NC; and a special nephew, Kelsey “Boomer” McCain; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
