James Otis "Rock" Nichols Was born February 28, 1953 to Robert Lee and Ossie Ola Nichols. He made his transition from this earthly life on December 29, 2019. James or “Rock” as he was affectionately known, was very talented and worked in many jobs. He loved the great outdoors and had a green thumb. He could grow anything. He walked by faith and not by sight. He was known as Uncle James by many. James was also hardheaded and loved to debate. He was a Golden Globe Boxer. Along with his love of nature, James loved to swim and fish. He was preceded in death by siblings; Larry Houston, Blain, and Shirletha White. He leaves to cherish his memories his lovely wife of 40 years and soulmate of 46, Mrs. Donna Patterson Nichols, four children; Casandra Andrews (Charlotte), James Smith (Columbia, SC), LaTonya Hill (Dallas), and LaMario Nichols (Mary) of Bessemer City; ten grandchildren, Shundaria, Donterious, Alexus, Shyhem, Mica, Isaiah, Tony, Amanda, Yael and Tydrea; and eight great grandchildren. He also leaves eight brothers and sisters; Robert Nichols Jr. (Naomi), Bobby Nichols (Susan), Adlia Nichols (Daphine), Ravon Nichols, Darrell Nichols (Greta), Matthew Coleman-Nichols, Glenda Miles (Melvin), Ossie Delores Randleman (Melvin), and brother-in-law, Vincent White.
