Jeardie Means Jr., beloved son of the late Jeardie Means Sr. and Dorothy Blanton Means was born March 14th, 1939, the first of eight children.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Linell Means and James Edward Means.
He was a lifelong resident of the Derita community in Charlotte, NC. Jeardie peacefully entered eternal rest at his home on Friday, February 19th, 2021.
Jeardie Means Jr. joined Rockwell AME Zion church at an early age. He attended Rockwell Rosenwald School in Derita and later, Torrence Lytle High School in Huntersville, NC where he graduated in 1957.
He worked for many years and retired from Carter Glass Company. When not working, he enjoyed hosting community cook-outs with his family in Derita.
He leaves to cherish loving memories of his life, his children, Javonna Means-Martin (Bobby), Tracy Mahatha, Kenny Williams (Christie), Welton Mahatha (Suquana), Phoebe Charles (Pristly), and Wanda Duncan; fifteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Jeanette Dubose (Charles), Carol Ford, Myrtle Means (Reginald Griffin), and one brother, Nathaniel Means, all of Charlotte, NC; he also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong special friends, Samuel and Ewandra Whitley, Donald Young, and Jamontal Moore.
