Jerry Martin Springs, 78, was born in Iredell County on December 18, 1945 and was the son of the late Sherman Caldwell and Anna Springs Davis. He departed this life on March 26, 2024 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC following an extended illness.
Jerry was a graduate of Unity High School. He retired from D. H. Griffin Construction, Greensboro, NC. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, NC, where he served faithfully as a Deacon and Elder until his health declined. He also was a member of St. Edwards Masonic Lodge, Kannapolis, NC and a United States Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Cowan Springs, a sister, Bobbie Jean Mitchell; sisters in law, Laura Mathis and Christine Sturgis; and brothers in law, Paul Mitchell. Charles Mills, Michael Cowan, and Randy Cowan.
Jerry leaves to cherish the memory of his life one daughter, Betty Jones (Gary), Statesville, NC; three sons, Ronnie Cowan, Billy Cowan (Cathy), both of Mooresville, NC, and Timothy Cowan (Deborah), Concord, NC., four brothers, Roy Springs (Phylinda), Charles Davis both of Greensboro, NC; Perry Springs, Mooresville, NC and Cometto Davis (Wendy), Jacksonville, NC and one sister Adelaide Sellars, Greensboro, NC; sister in laws Elizabeth Sifford, Francella Sherrill and Judy Mills all of Mooresville, NC and brother in law Garry Cowan (Linda) of Troutman, NC along with grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and dear friends. Jerry was a loving and caring father, brother, and friend.
