She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-Ernest G. Allison, Jr. and Charles Edward Allison, her sister-Dorthene A. Clark, her nephew-Ernest G. Allison III, and her niece-Reverend Victoria Renee Guyton.
She leaves to cherish her memory with her sisters, Annie M. Smith, Alberta L. Allison of Troutman, NC and Mamie A. Walker of Adelphia, MD., her nieces and nephews whose relationships were more like siblings and friends, her great and great-great nieces and nephews, and Special Caregivers, Mamie and Todd Houston. She considered all of them as her children and grand-children. She loved all of them as her own. She was the only babysitter to some of them and would do anything for them. There was no question; she loved ALL, and they all loved her. They showed their appreciation for her on New Year's Day, January 1, 2022.
She graduated from Unity High School in 1963. She then moved to New York, Washington, DC, and San Francisco, CA. She was employed by the Federal Government with the Office of the Inspector General in the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW) at the U.S. General Accounting Office, the District of Columbia (DC) Government in the Office of the Corporation Counsel, America’s Most Wanted, the Hecht Company, the DC Convention and Visitors Association, and the Montgomery County, MD (Department of Social Services). She ushered at the Warner Theater for 12 years. After returning to Statesville, NC, she was employed at the City of Statesville Personnel Office, retiring in 2012.
Her hobbies were reading her Bible, listening to soft classical music, completing Word Searches, baking cakes, gardening (especially Camellias and Hydrangeas), spending lots of time with her family, and helping everyone she could. She served as assistant caregiver for her sister, Dot, for 20 years.
She rejoined her family church, South Iredell A.M.E. Zion Church and served in many offices-Exholter, Church Delegate, Choir, Missionary, Preacher’s Stewart, and Quarter Conference Secretary for many years.
