Ms. Karen Reneé Jackson was born on February 5, 1956, in Huntersville, North Carolina to the late John Henry Ross and Mary Travis Elizabeth McCorkle Harris. She took her eternal rest on December 30, 2024, at Five Oaks Rehabilitation.
Karen was a former member of Saint Phillip Missionary Baptist Church during her childhood years. Over the years she would often visit. She attended Torrence-Lytle Elementary School and North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, NC.
Karen was well known for her beauty and her contagious smile. She was always joyful! She loved being around her children and grandchildren. She loved watching soap operas, and if you’d call her while General Hospital was on, she will not answer, or hang up on you. She loved watching tv, such as, old westerns, sitcoms, and horror movies. She was also known for her cooking and her gift of baking cakes and pies. Karen loved sports and was a loyal fan to the San Francisco 49ers. Her happiest moments were spending time with family and her dog Jordan.
Karen Reneé Jackson was proceeded in death by two brothers Anthony Clark and Terry Howard.
She leaves to cherish her son, Sherman Eugene Black III; her daughter, LaTonya Denise Black; her son, Maurice J.L. Day all of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren, Reginald M. Alston II, Cadejah L. Farmer, Qua’Darious V. Black, Khyrique N. Colon, and DeAndre M. Black; Also, three great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Ms. Vanessa Williams of Statesville, NC, Ms. Janet McCorkle of Whitehall, PA, Ms. Cynthia Powell and Ms. Twaina Howell of Buffalo, NY; two brothers, Mr. Jasper McCorkle of Greenwood, SC, and Mr. Antonio McCorkle of New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
