Kathleen Marsha Brooks, affectionately known to many as "Kathy", and also as "Kat Dogg", from Brooklyn, NY, was born on May 19, 1950 to William and Harriet Atkinson. She departed this life Friday, September 11, 2020 at Atrium Health - Pineville, Charlotte, North Carolina.
She was educated in New York, attending New York City Public Schools, and worked in the Public Schools System with the NYPD School Safety Division on the Special Task Force Unit for over 15 years before retiring to South Carolina. A few years later, she moved to Charlotte, NC to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Kathleen joined St. Paul's Community Baptist Church and remained a member until she re-located South. She continued attendance when she returned to New York on her visits back home.
Kathleen enjoyed music, dancing, and entertaining her friends and family with her raw wit and humor. She also loved to read, and collect African art, traveling, and attending live concerts.
Kathleen leaves to cherish her memories, her mother Harriet, her children Nicole (Nicci), Kenya, Eric (Sharmar), Tekira (Tee), and Shekira, her 8 grandchildren; Malik, Khamani, Mekhi (Mack), Ian (Amari), Erykah, Zarion, Zakai, and Riley, and her 2 great grandchildren; McKenzie, and Ky'air
