Mrs. Kay Frances Clark Johnson was born in Cornelius, NC on June 29, 1936 to the late John William Sr. and Sara Rebecca Withers Clark. She transitioned into eternal peace February 28, 2025, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
She married the love of her life on April 4, 1954, sharing 70 70 years together; and to this union two children were born.
Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Warren Johnson Sr. (January 9, 2024); and 8 siblings, John Jr., Bessie, Dorothy, Mable, Carl, Bobby, Vonnie, and Darnella.
Educated in Mecklenburg County, she graduated from West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, NC before moving to Manhattan, NY. She was joined by her husband after his honorable service in the United States Army-Korea. They later relocated to Bronx, NY.
She worked as a secretary then a bus escort for special needs children before continuing her education at Lehman College CUNY Bronx, NY; where she graduated Cum Laude. She then became a Social Worker for the state of New York until retirement.
Kay and Thomas moved back to NC in 2002 settling in Mooresville. As time passed, she briefly became the Vice President and the President for the Torrence Lytle Alumni Association.
Left to cherish her memories of her life and legacy are her daughter, Sherri D. Johnson; son, Thomas W. Johnson Jr. (Elizabeth) ; four grandchildren, Reginald Johnson (Patricia), Shaniqua Johnson, Tyler Johnson, and Liana Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Kavasia Heath, Harleigh Richardson (Telisa), Mason Johnson, Malia Johnson, and Jasmine Johnson. She also leaves one sister, Priscilla Clark; three sisters in law, Betty B. Clark, Carletta Jenkins (Stanley), and Gloria Stroud (Keegan); two brothers in law, Gerald Johnson (Libby), and Tollis Johnson (Brenda); and also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
