Larry D. Smith, also known as “Pokey”, was born April 13, 1958 to the union of Maggie and the late Herbert Smith. Larry received his education from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, North Carolina. He was a Steelers fan and a passionate love for Malcolm X and Bob Marley. He spent time cooking, singing, watching Western movies and Sanford and Sons. Larry passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House. His father Herbert Smith and grandmother Ernestine Alexander have already paved the way to the gates of Heaven. He leaves to carry on his memory, his mother, Maggie Smith; brother, Darrie Smith; sisters, Terry Little and Melinda Smith; nieces, Letha and Porschea Smith; great niece, Khelsi Harris (Ben); great nephew, Remington “Lil Lefty” Belk and a great-great niece, Wynter “Wyntress” Harris; uncles, Ferman (Barbara) and Henry Smith; Larry was loved by an abundance of cousins and friends.
