Mrs. Leila “Emma” Phinx Sherrill, daughter of the late Wilson “Notes” and Ester Mae Long Phinx, was born August 29, 1924 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. She departed this life unexpectedly Saturday, January 25, 2020.
She was a faithful member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she served on the Nurture Committee as Chair, Gospel and Senior Choir, and also the Communion Committee. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
She worked in the domestic and industrial field as a spinner/winder. She also worked for Hudson Poultry.
In addition to her parents, Leila was preceded in death by her husband Franklin Duke Sherrill Sr.; five brothers, Withro Phinx, Bennie F. Bost, Jathaniel McCorkle, William Phinx, and William Hardin Graham; and one sister, Margarette Wilson.
Left to cherish her memories are two sons Jerry E. Sherrill (Loretta) of Charlotte, NC and Frank Sherrill Jr. of Denver, NC; one daughter, Gail S. Wilson (Dennis) of Iron Station, NC; three grandchildren, Donnie R. Wilson of Indian Land, NC, Ali Chi'Tim Sherrill of Charlotte, NC, and Candis E. Sherrill of Huntersville, NC; four great grands, De’Cory Stitt, Jaden Lewis, Quiera & Quiari Allen. She also leaves her Godchildren, Dineshia Phinx, Robert Phinx, Brandon Phinx, Milik Phinx, and Dontavis Walker.
