Lena was born November 19, 1928 to Augusta S. Houston and Gaither Reid in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was raised by Frank James Lawson.
Lena accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Columbus Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Davidson, NC. She joined Marble Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Kannapolis, NC. While at Marable Memorial, she served on The Lizzy Lawson Usher Board. She also joined Davidson Presbyterian Church in Davidson, NC. She served as an Elder, a Steward, Women Association, and Hospitality. She later returned to Columbus Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church as a Deaconess and faithfully attendance of Sunday School and church.
Lena was employed with Cannon Mill for many years. She worked in the Drapery Factory in Mooresville, NC. She was a trash talker.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guydell Connor; sons, John Franklin Allison, Leonard Bernard Allison, Curtis Connor, and James Allen Connor; daughter, Faye Stewart; maternal grandson, Jerry Augusta Livingston, Jr.; sisters, Beluah Lawson Isom (twin), Hattie Mae Johnson Harris, Louise Neal, and Maggie Wade; brothers, Joseph Lawson, Thomas Lawson, and Nathaniel Miller.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Joyce Bernice Allison Livingston of Rocky Mount, NC and Brenda Mccain of Mooresville, NC; sons, Guydell Connor, Jr., NC and Randy Connor, GA; grandchildren, Jamaal A. Livingston, NC, Jon A. Livingston (Fiancee, Wallis), MD and Katerina Grant, NC; great grandchildren, Kalonda Grant, Leonard Lancaster, JaRale Livingston, Mia Farris, Sa'Nia Alexander, Jasyah Livingston, Jah'Zaria Livingston, Kimora Grant, and Khypri Grant and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
