Mae Mary Frances Sherrill Hill of the late Spirgan and Lottie Vaye Sherrill was born August 8,1936 in Mooresville, NC and left for Eternity August 6,2023 4:15 am in the loving arms of her Jesus Christ at the Bon Secours South Hampton Medical Center Franklin, VA.
She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1956, and soon thereafter she went to New York City for employment then returned to Mooresville and met her loving husband Ferman Hill Jr. from Davidson, NC. In Spring of 1956 they went back to New York City and were married and lived in Harlem, NY. She always had an abundant love for music; some of her favorite artist were Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson. She also loved cooking southern meals always sharing it with her friends, and family. Out of that union were born four children, Ferman Lee (October 1958), David Warren (January 1960), Scott Bernard (December 1962), and Michael Donelle (January 1965). Michael in 1989, and David in 2018 preceded her death.
Mary and her husband decided to raise their children in the Bronx, NY, Mary decided to be a stay at home wife while her husband continued to serve at the New York City Police Department, and The US Army National Guard both for over 45 years till retirement. In spring 1968 Till fall 1969 Mary was employed at Montefiore Hospital as a Food Dietitian. All their children were educated in the Bronx with the exception of Ferman Lee graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School in East Harlem. Mary was known as "Cooter, Mom, Mother, Ma, Mae & Mae Frances, after all their children were all grown Mary and her husband Ferman Hill Jr. decided to continue to live in the Bronx, NYC.
In 1990 Mary and her husband decided finally to continue their retirement life by moving to Davidson, NC. They continued to share their love among the rest of their family among the south helping other family members in Virginia till her husband's passing in 2020. Mary Frances Hill leaves to cherish her precious memories from her life; her sons, Ferman Lee & Denise Carlos of New York City, and Scott B and wife Jo'z B of Davidson, NC. Mary's grandchildren left to mourn are Scott Jr, Joshua, Elijah, Kassandra, Marquax, Barbara Jean, and a host of great grandchildren from New York, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Georgia, and Japan. Mary Frances lived in Franklin, VA until The Master Called.
