Margaret (Roberts) Strong

Mrs. Margaret R. Strong, daughter of the late Vicie Roberts and Willie Geter, was born February 13, 1928 in Mecklenburg County. She departed this life of March 23, 2021 at her home.

As a child, Margaret, along with her mother and two sisters, Ella Jackson and Mae Bell Lowery, became members of the United House of Prayer for All People. She met and married Elder Harry Strong in 1967. After his passing in 1998 she later joined St Phillip Missionary Baptist Church in Huntersville, NC where she was a faithful member until her sickness kept her home bound.

Margaret enjoyed flowers and working in her garden and more than anything she loved children , if there was a parent that needed to work late or had a financial problem it wasn't an issue for Mama Margaret. She loved family, friends, and the entire neighborhood. She was a mother who showed tough love. She had something special from God about the stages of a child when developing.

Her husband and she were foster parents to 23 children. They were the first family to be registered as a Emergency Shelter Housing. Margaret opened one of the first in-home Day Cares in the area in 1974. Later on, they went on to adopt several children.
