On Sunday evening October 11, 2020, God called his faithful servant, Martha Sharp Johnson to her eternal home. Martha was born on October 23, 1924, to the late Silas and Carrie Sharp Johnson in Iredell County, North Carolina.
She received her education in Mooresville at the school known as “The Bird House”.
Martha joined Bethesda A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age and later joined the Temple of Bethesda Church, where she attended faithfully until her health began to decline. She didn’t have any birth children, but had three Godchildren she called upon, Leon and Lillian Johnson and LaMonica Johnson Crisco of Mooresville, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents Martha was preceded in death by five sisters, Elizabeth Brawley, Sadie Mae Brown, Mable Johnson Miller, Isola Torrence and Beatrice Johnson Houston, six brothers, Silas, Lathan, Francis, Ozell, Capes and R.J. Johnson.
“Aunt Mart” as she was affectionately called by many was a cook from her heart, especially known for her many delicious dishes – especially her cake baking skills.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, her caretakers, Jimmie T. and Betty Miller of Mooresville, North Carolina; nine nephews, seven nieces, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
