Mrs. Mary Sherrill Davis Fetterson, 92, of Mt. Mourne, North Carolina, peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at her residence in Mooresville, following a brief illness.
Born on May 25, 1933, in Iredell County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Luther and Mrs. Mattie Goodson Sherrill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Davis Sr.; her second husband, Rev. John Fetterson; her sisters, Elouise Russell and Azie Long; her brothers, John H. Sherrill, Ollie Sherrill, Roscoe Sherrill, David Sherrill, and Harry Sherrill; and two grandchildren, Jerobi Gray and Kaelon Davis.
Mrs. Fetterson was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School in Mooresville, NC. A faithful and devoted member of Caldwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, she served in numerous capacities over the years as a Deaconess, Choir Member, Usher, and in any other role where she was needed. Her life was one of service, dedication, and love for her church, family, and community.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Fetterson was employed at Reeves Brothers as a Material Handler, and later worked as a Cook at both Lowrance Hospital and Mooresville Hospital. Known for her strong work ethic and gentle spirit, she brought warmth and care to every environment she entered.
She found great joy in cooking, coloring, sewing, and, above all, spending time with her family. A caring and loving mother, she was deeply devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. Her nurturing heart, generous spirit, and selfless love will remain an enduring example to all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory three loving daughters, Dianne Harrison (Larry) and Carol Davis, both of Charlotte, NC, and Paula Sturgis (Charles) of Mooresville, NC; two devoted sons, Robert S. Davis Jr. (Mary) and Larry Davis, both of Mooresville, NC; and two dear sisters, Carolyn Hunter and Nannie Patterson, both of Mooresville, NC. Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren — Donald Ray (Quanda), Siti Smith (Ralph), Gabrelle Johnson (MJ), Jamila Williams (Quan), Robbie Johnson (Chainy), Chris Crowder, Khylil Davis, Paris Davis, Jayden Davis, and Maddox Davis; great-grandchildren — Myya Davis, Denise Davis, Melesse Griffin, Makayah Griffin, Ieasha Blackwood, Nylah Johnson, and Ryes Johnson; and one cherished great-great-grandchild, Malaysia Davis. She will also be fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly and will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
