Mary Lozena Fishe, born October 17, 1926, transitioned into heaven on Saturday, January 23. Lozena was born in Iredell County to the late Bessie Lee and Ertelle Fishe.
She attended Dunbar School in Mooresville and went on to attend Winston-Salem Teachers College. She would later move to Jamaica Queens, New York where she worked for the Department of Health until she retired in February, 1992.
Lozena was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Stars of New York. She was an avid baseball fan and preferred listening to her beloved Mets on the radio with her cigarette and coffee. Lozena was one of oldest original remaining living residents of Eastern Hike.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Ertel A. Fishe (Bud).
Lozena is survived by her daughter, Brenda F. Mckee of Mooresville, special daughter, Sarah Phifer of Mooresville, nephew, Alvin Fishe of Mooresville, and niece, Anita Fishe of Mooresville, grandsons, Kevin (Sue) of Mooresville, Damon (Cherese) of Charlotte, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and honorary grandchildren.
