Maxine Allison Blakeney of Mooresville, NC was born on October 13, 1939 to Thomas Milton Allison and Nettie Sanders Allison in Iredell County. She departed this life on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville, NC surrounded by her loved ones.
She was married to her high school sweetheart Charlie Blakeney Jr., who departed from life just 6 weeks prior, for 61 years. She was educated in the Rowan County schools and worked for Burlington Industries for over 25 years.
She was a life-long member of Bethesda AME Zion Church, joining at a young age. She was a member of the choir, Senior Usher Board, Stewardess Board, Missionary Department, Deaconess Board, Kitchen Committee, and the North Charlotte District Local Life Members Chairman for Bethesda AME Zion Church. She was also a member of AARP and the Christian Women Club. She loved her church, reading, cooking, travelling, and was spoiled rotten to the core by everybody.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sweetheart, Charlie Blakeney Jr., four brothers, Thomas Jr., Buddy, Robert, James; and three sisters, Martha, Pauline, and Barbara.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children; David Blakeney(Ida), Charlie Blakeney, Charita Smith(Calvin), Tommie Blakeney(Karen), her 9 grandchildren; Kelsey McCain, Joshua Knox, Loletta Simelton, Whitney Blakeney, Calvin smith, Aaliyah Blakeney, Briana Blakeney , Kiara Davis, and Brandon Blakeney and 3 great grandchildren; Nevaeh Knox, Kera Knox, and Kennedi Williamson and 9 special godchildren: Margaret Russell, Roderick Clark, Donna Howard, Cory Cauthens, Brenda Alexander,Willie Wilkins, Chloe Tyner, Jenny Murphy, and Patti Rushing, 2 special in-laws; Godfrey Eason and Minnie Sanders, 1 special niece; Linda Flowers, and 3 special nephews; Douglas Allison, Tony Eason, Rico Rickett and a host of other relatives and friends.
