Naomi Tucker Houston of Davidson, North Carolina was born to the late Efraim and Ina Curry Tucker, on May 9, 1933, in Elberton, Georgia. She was always humble and lively, enjoying family and friends until she was welcomed to her new home on June 30, 2020.
Naomi was a proud 1952 graduate of Huntersville High School. Over the course of her adult life she held various domestic roles along with running her household, maintaining an amazing marriage, and raising her daughters, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She lovingly provided daycare for many neighborhood children.
Coming to Christ, Naomi was a faithful member of Union Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church, which she joined at an early age. Later, upon marrying AG, she changed her membership to Davidson Presbyterian Church, where she was a willing servant in any capacity when called to do so.
Naomi, affectionately called “Byrd”, Auntie Maw Maw, Byrd, and LaOmi, was preceded in death by AG, her husband of 56 years; brothers: Grady, Ralph, and Quincy Tucker; sister, Sereva Tucker Robertson; special niece, Inez C. Carr, and special cousin Shirley Pharr.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of “Byrd” are her daughters, Wanda Houston and Tonda Slade (Keith); granddaughters, Lisa Houston and Logan Slade; great grandson, Nikolis Miller; special nieces, Ruby Johnson (Nathaniel), Brenda Sullivan (Michael); special great nieces, Tara Anderson (Geoffrey) and Leslie Caldwell, and special great nephew, David Caldwell; four sister in laws, Bernice Houston, Ophelia Houston, Etta Houston and Sylvia Tucker – along with a host of other family and friends.
