Pastor Al Dorothy Bumpus Obituary

Pastor Al Dorothy Jones Bumpus, 78, fondly known as Pastor Al, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 13, 2024. She was born in Odgen, Arkansas on March 30, 1946 to the late Charlie Wilborne and Ora Stamps.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Grady C. Jones and Patrick Bumpus; a son, Laron Jones; brothers, Bennie Wakefield and Donny Kennedy; sisters, Linda Wright and Doris Marie Brooks; also preceding her in death are her grandchildren, Kiiwon Bradford, Damien Burney, Byron Edwards, and ChaVonda Greer.

She was a 1965 graduate of Galileo High School in San Francisco, CA and later attended Poly Priest Business College in Vallejo, CA. She was employed by Concord Naval Weapons Station in Concord, CA and also Port of Oakland in Alameda, CA.

Pastor Al loved the Lord and gave him her life in 1975. This began her journey as a devout Christian and lead her to serve her Lord in many aspects. For many years she worked faithfully as a missionary in the community and in her home. She was ordained a Deaconess in Vallejo, CA before relocating to Mooresville, NC. In North Carolina she continued her service to the Lord. In 2019 she was ordained a Elder and became the Pastor and founder of Unlimited Love Ministries. This ministry was created to reach the sick, shut-in, unchurched, and church hurt. She was a woman of prayer whose love and life inspired so many.

She enjoyed playing board games with her grandchildren, sending funny videos and words of encouragement on social media. Every week she had a routine of watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune with her family and had them compete to see who could correctly answer the questions or solve the puzzles first. Her favorite hobbies were painting her fingernails a different color   every two days, and chopping what she called The Holy Trinity…onion, bell pepper, and garlic. She was known for having a sexy voice that made her sound 50 years younger! She was a hopeless romantic that wrote beautiful poems, love letters, and would sing with an angelic voice that was just as beautiful as she was. She could sing the angriest person to sleep with her blessed and soothing voice. She loved her grannies. Some called her granny, others called her Queen and the rest called her Suga Mama. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes. She loved her plants, birds, Koi fish, and Red Leaf Japanese Maple Tree. She taught her family how to do hair, cook, write neatly, peeling peas for 10 LONG YEARS, and most of all she taught them how to Pray. She was a prayer warrior and a mighty woman of God that touched many lives. She leaves behind a Legacy that will live on for generations to come.

She leaves to cherish loving memories of her life to her daughters, Ramellia (Freddie) Johnson and Shawnea (James) McMullen of Mooresville, NC; sons, Paul (Delores) Jones of Las Vegas, NV, Dr. Shawn Jones of Vallejo, CA, and DeVon (Davida) Greer of San Francisco, CA.
