Richard Thomas Black Sr. was born May 8, 1940 to the late Wilson & Geneva Black. He departed his life on January 17, 2024.
Richard was a graduate of Torrence Lytle High School with the class of 1958. He was employed by Donaldson Trucking NC.
Richard joined Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church at a young age where he was a member of the choir.
He was a beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, and friend to many. He enjoyed playing baseball, eating, fishing, and making people laugh. He also wouldn't let anyone talk about his beloved Dallas Cowboys, as he was a die heart fan.
Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, a granddaughter, and a bonus sister, Virginia Stinson.
Richard is survived by three children, Angela Black, Richard T. Black Jr. (Sha’ron), and Yolanda Black, all of Charlotte, NC; and two sisters, Shirley Sherrill and Juanita Archie. He also leaves his bonus family, Leon “Shack” , Betty Jean, Dallas, Arlie, Danny, Dallasia Cornelius, Bernita C. McNeely (Jason), Andrea Currence, Sophette Black, Shanese Black, and Adrian McNeely (Kelly); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
