Ricky Bernard Harvell was born on April 21, 1957 to the late Paul C. Harvell Jr. and Geneva P. Harvell in Cornelius, NC.
He transitioned from labor to reward peace-fully into the Lord’s arms on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC surrounded by his family.
At an early age, Ricky accepted the Lord as his Savior as a member of Union Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church of Cornelius, NC. He was affectionately known as Tick.
He was educated in the Charlotte Mecklen-burg School System and Art was his favorite subject.
His longest trade was Construction, which he loved. During his time in construction, he played a role in the development of Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Also, he was a part of the artwork on David Beatty Place, a carpenter in the Smithville Community and other surrounding areas.
He was a talented cook. Ricky loved to fry fish, barbeque ribs, and other main dishes. He had a pas-sion for trimming the hedges at Union Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. He supported the church through his talents and gifts.
Ricky leaves to cherish fond memories, his mother, Geneva P. Harvell; two children, Lamont Gray (Tasha) and Tarleisha Oakley (Apostle Oak-ley); one sister, Christophia Patterson (Wayne); and three brothers, Ivy Harvell Sr. (Denise), Tracy Harvell Sr., Elgin Harvell (Susie). He also leaves seven grandchildren; Cynethia, Kiara, Lamont, Maurice Jr., LaMondre’, Aliyah, and Aniyah; five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and neph-ews. A special friend, Dorothy Reid.
