Ricky "Rick" Turner, 65, was born in Mooresville, NC on April 30, 1956. He was the son of the late Mayhew and Lolean Turner.
Ricky was a fun loving person who lived to cherish and share laughter. Rarely did he meet a stranger. He was known by so many, most of which speak of his sense of humor and be personality. He had a way to make anyone he was around smile. He loved the Lord and didn't mind telling those who he came in contact with about his faith and the God he served.
Ricky was an ordained Elder of Bibleway Church of the Living God, where he was a lifelong member. He grew up in the Bibleway Headquarters church in Statesville, NC where he served the church in many capacities. He served as a deacon and was a member of the Jubilee Gospel Singers, and he loved to sing the songs of the old. He served as the coordinator of the pastoral anniversaries for the late Bishop H.J. Daniels and Overseer G.A Daniels. Ricky also directed the Junior Jubilee Gospel Singers, second generation choir. He took great pride in showing off this talented group of young folk in the Mooresville Area.
Simply put, Ricky loved life and love people. To know him, was to love him; which was an extension of his big and loving family, where he was the baby boy.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Mayhew and Lolean Turner, his sister; Gwendolyn Turner, brothers; John Garland and Allen Turner also preceeded him in death, and his brother-in-love Mack Tucker.
To cherish his life, Ricky leaves precious memories to those he loved best; his sons, Pervis Gillion Sr. and Ricky Turner Jr. His grandchildren, Dezariah Blackwood, Pervis Gillion Jr., Tremell Gillion, Brielle Simons, Kahmaria Turner, and Kie Turner. One brother, Ivory (Doris) Turner of Statesville, NC; two sisters, Barbara (Allan) Lowery and Tawanna Tucker both of Mooresville, NC. A god sister, Carolyn (Hubert) Harris, and a host of nieces and nephews.
