Rita Yvonne Turner (Sheely) made her entrance into the world on September 25, 1954 in Iredell County to Garland Turner Sr. and Mary Alice Rankin Turner. She departed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on March 16, 2022.
She attended Rowan and Cabarrus County School Systems. She attended several churches, lastly at Congregational United Church of Christ. She was employed as a Personal Health Care Provider, and long time employment at Duke Power and also Crown Colony.
Rita was not just the sum of her schooling, and employment, she was an awesome singer (Chaka Khan didn't have nothing on her), she loved singing with her sisters and family, she had a green thumb (very proud of her flowers), she loved sharing her wine talents, famous for her dipped chicken, loved spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren, and always laughing and having fun with family. If you knew her, you know she kept it real and raw.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Cassandra Turner Sullivan; siblings, Louise Dolson, Mayhew Turner, Johnsie Turner, Sarah Jean Rucker, Betty Bailey, Paul Turner, and Phyllis Turner.
Precious memories are left to be cherished by her son, Travis Sheely; grandchildren, Bianica Turner, Delvin Robinson (Assyria), NY'Likk Troutman, and David Hill; great grandchildren, Zymir Gore, Kamyrn Robinson, Jordan Clyburn, and Caci Robinson; siblings, Garland Turner, Jr. (Leona), Mooresville, NC, Annie Ellis (Joe), Woodleaf, NC, Mary, Ramsey (James), Salisbury, NC, Larry Turner, Randy Turner, Michael Turner (Dominie) all of Mooresville, NC. She also leaves a few long time special friends, Vickie Taylor, Elvira McCall-Gaines, and Beverly Knox , and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and others that loved her dearly.
