Mr. Robert Louis Glaspy (Greasy) was born in Rowan County, North Carolina on February 24, 1943. He was the son of the late John Lee and Clara Rankin Glaspy. He departed this life on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons (Robert Watts and Dale Vanderburg); two brothers (Frances Lee and William (Bill) Glaspy); two sisters (Julia Mae and Virginia Ruth); one granddaughter (Briana Henderson).
Robert was a 1960 graduate of Unity High School, Statesville, North Carolina. He was gainfully employed 30 years plus at Cascade Tire & Recap and retired from the Town of Mooresville, Mooresville, North Carolina. He joined Antioch Baptist Church at an early age. He was the Chairman of the Trustee Board and sung with Antioch Spiritual Singers for many years.
He joined the United States Army in 1965, where he served in the capacity of a Military Police Officer until 1970.
He had a passion for fishing, helping people ,working on cars and of course drinking Mt. Dews.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, two daughters: Andrea Torrence of Statesville, North Carolina and Robin Johnson of Tobacccoville, North Carolina; six sons: Gregory (Toni), John and Jonathan Henderson, Charlotte, North Carolina; Ronald Gibbs of Mooresville, North Carolina, Christopher Gibbs of Troutman, North Carolina, and Lionel (Tina) Johnson of Hamptonville, North Carolina; he also reared Bertha Cowan of Troutman, North Carolina, Monica Muskins of Mooresville, North Carolina, Yukitia Wilfong of Hickory, North Carolina, Tracie Tomlin of Taylorsville, North Carolina and Stephanie Tomlin of Statesville, North Carolina; He had three step children: Pastor Angela (Jerry) Leach of Statesville, North Carolina, Linda Grissom of Mooresville, North Carolina and Michael Redfear of Statesville, North Carolina;33 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; three brothers: Scott (Ruth) Rankin of Mooresville, Donal (Juanita) Glaspy of Statesville, North Carolina and Jay (Doris) Glaspy of Plainfield, New Jersey; two sisters: Ada Graham and Katie Pearson of Statesville, North Carolina; one aunt: Eldora Rankin of Cleveland; Special Son: Brian (Shannon) Overcash and host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
